‘I’m never content with what I do. I live in a sort of permanent dissatisfaction. I think that’s the secret to doing things well’ ~ Karl Lagerfeld

j’aime couture…

Hailing from the Midwest, these are the musings of a girl eternally in love with high-end fashion…a love that decisively brought me to New York City and back again. Fashion…style…is art. It is inspiration. The elements of nature. Passion. A reason to breathe. My personal style is classic chic with avant garde tendencies – drawn to a neutral color palette, luxe textures, and layering pieces with clean lines that can be complimented by others with some extent of mild distressing. A signature look is typically a combination of tailored pieces paired with edgy constants…ever evolving, yet a true representation of personality and inspirations of the moment.

Inspiration in profusion…

Photography is my serenity…along with 120mm stilettos, coffee + Rick Owens. Nature and architecture fascinate – attracted to texture and movement, especially elements left in a broken or untouched state…an abandoned building, peeling paint, graffiti, freshly fallen snow, a raw diamond. I see in abstract, finding beauty and maybe a little romance in details others may disregard.

the motivation behind this blog…

Midwest Couture began in July ’09, setting in motion a past desire to become involved within the fashion industry. What this endeavor has developed into is much more than I could have imagined – discovering a passion for both editorial writing and lifestyle photography. If it is what I am meant to do, then doors will open…and they have begun to do so. Every hardship, every disappointment, every decision has brought me to this point…no regrets. A previous employer once said to me, “Trasi…you just need to grow up & figure out what you want to do with your life.” Apparently, no one ever told her the most interesting individuals are those who figure it out later, those possessing the courage to never settle and take risks. There is nothing wrong with being forever indecisive…
